People walking on the rugged and uneven Diamond Head summit trial, Diamond Head State Monument, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, USA. The highlight of the 475-acre State Monument is 0.7-mile hike to the summit of Leahi offering breath taking view of Waikiki. The trail to the summit of Leahi was built in 1908 as part of the US. Army Coastal Artillery defense system. The trail scales the steep interior of the crater along the western slopes to the summit. Along the way the trail includes steep stairways, tunnel and a bunker complex.
